JJ has been playing piano since age nine and guitar since age fourteen. He has been teaching guitar for over twenty years and keyboards for ten years. He works with beginners through intermediate level players, ages five through adult. He uses standard method books from several publishers covering Performance, Technique and Theory. For guitar students, he teaches current popular styles right off of their own CD's in addition to note-reading.
RECITALS - JJ's students are encouraged (but not forced) to perform in Christmas recitals in a couple of local retirement homes. This has been very successful and enjoyable in the past. The performance always ends with a few Christmas "sing-alongs" that the students help lead. Families and friends are invited. Students are also eligible for the Spring Music Festival, in which they perform specific pieces for a judge and accumulate points towards trophies.
